Using Modbus TCP on an Industrial Robot Controller

Modbus TCP (also called Modbus TCP/IP) is an open industrial communication protocol used to control devices over an ethernet interface. Like its serial counterpart (Modbus RTU), it uses shared memory on a slave device which is accessed by a master using read/write commands. It must not be confused with Ethernet/IP which is a totally different protocol, albeit using the same ethernet interface.
