If you’ve ever spent an afternoon teaching pick positions, you know that what looks simple on paper can quickly become repetitive, time-consuming work. The latest Robotiq software updates are here to change that — removing extra steps, simplifying setup, and giving you more control without more complexity.
With new features like Pick Automatic, enhanced Multi-Pick, and upcoming Pick Optimization, Robotiq is pushing palletizing software further toward what factories really need: fast deployment, flexible operation, and zero headaches.
1. Pick Automatic: Forget teaching every pick
Manual teaching for every new SKU? Not anymore.
With Pick Automatic, you no longer need to teach each pick position for new products. Once the infeed is calibrated — a step handled by Robotiq staff, distributors, or integrators before deployment — you’re good to go.
From there, operators simply:
- Create a new recipe
- Enter product dimensions and weight
- Select the infeed
That’s it. The software does the rest — automatically calculating the robot’s pick pose so you can focus on the end result: a neatly palletized, production-ready stack.
Best of all, Pick Automatic is available as a free software update for all existing Robotiq palletizer customers (except the ones using Universal Robots CB series) using a fixed-corner conveyor like the Smart Infeed.
It’s a small step for setup — and a giant leap for usability.
2. Multi-pick: Now faster, smarter, and easier to pick up

Dual or triple pick has never been this easy.
The improved Multi-Pick functionality makes handling multiple boxes per cycle straightforward — without needing to define a “grouped” box or modify dimensions manually. You simply choose between single, dual, or triple pick directly in the URCap interface.
The system then automatically adjusts:
- Box dimensions
- Pick positions
- Counting, gate management and box sensor configuration (when using Smart Infeed)
In other words, Multi-Pick just works — giving you the flexibility to boost throughput without extra programming or manual setup.
3. Coming soon: Pick optimization with PowerPick Multi
For users running the PowerPick Multi gripper, another layer of intelligence is on the way.
The upcoming Pick Optimization feature automatically determines the best pick offset and position for each box, removing the need for manual tuning. The system analyzes several factors in real time, including:
- Maintaining at least six sealed cups per active zone
- Maximizing suction efficiency
- Avoiding suction overlap at box junctions
- Preventing unwanted suction on boxes still waiting on the conveyor

More reliable handling, fewer adjustments, and consistent performance even with changing box configurations.
This feature will be available soon — and, like every Robotiq update, it’s designed to make automation simpler, not harder.
Why it matters
Software updates may sound like small wins — but on a busy factory floor, they can mean hours saved, smoother transitions between SKUs, and a faster return on investment.
Each of these new tools brings Robotiq’s mission closer to reality: automation that’s easy to deploy, effortless to run, and built around the people who use it.
