Installing a Robotiq Gripper on Fanuc CRX

A step-by-step guide to mounting and connecting a Robotiq Gripper to a Fanuc CRX robot

This article explains how to install a Robotiq Gripper on a Fanuc CRX collaborative robot. It covers mechanical mounting and electrical connections to help integrators and end users get started quickly and correctly.

Prerequisites

First, make sure you have downloaded your Gripper Instruction Manual from our Support website:

Also, make sure the following requirements have been met:

  • Robot type: Fanuc CRX series

  • Gripper model: One of the following:

    • 2F-85 or 2F-140

    • Hand-E

    • Hand-E C10

  • Required kits: Depending on your gripper model, use the corresponding CRX integration kit:
    • Hand-E

      • Single Gripper Kit: HND-CRX-KIT

      • Dual Kit (X bracket): CRX-DUAL-X-HND

      • Dual Kit (Y bracket): CRX-DUAL-HND

    • Hand-E C10

      • Single Gripper Kit: HND-C10-CRX-KIT

      • Dual Kit (X bracket): CRX-DUAL-X-HND-C10

      • Dual Kit (Y bracket): CRX-DUAL-Y-HND-C10

    • 2F-85

      • Single Gripper Kit: AGC-CRX-KIT-85

      • Dual Kit: CRX-DUAL-AGC-085

    • 2F-140

      • Single Gripper Kit: AGC-CRX-KIT-140

      • Dual Kit: CRX-DUAL-AGC-140

 

Single Gripper: Mechanical Installation

  1. Attach the coupling to the CRX robot’s tool flange using supplied M6 screws.

  2. Mount the gripper to the coupling.

  3. Connect the M8 cable to the CRX wrist connector.

Dual Gripper: Mechanical Installation

  1. Attach the dual adapter plate to the CRX robot’s tool flange using supplied M6 screws.
  2. Attach both couplings to the dual adapter plate using supplied M6 screws.
  3. Mount both grippers symmetrically to their respective coupling.
  4. Connect the two M8 cables to the dual splitter.
  5. Connect the M8 splitter to the CRX wrist connector.
