We don't recommend updating the firmware if your unit is working as intended as some firmware can modify the behavior of your gripper slightly and incur more issues.
The Robotiq Universal Upgrader is compatible with:
- Grippers (2F & Hand-E)
- Vacuum Grippers (EPick)
- I/O Coupling
- Screwdriver (SD-100)
- Screw Feeder (SF-300)

What is needed?
You will need to connect your unit to a computer. Here is what you will need:
For 2F, Hand-E, EPick and the Robotiq Screwdriver
- Software to install the FTDI drivers (Robotiq User Interface)
- Coupling with 1m cable (GRP-CPL-XXX)
- 10m cable (CBL-COM-2065-10-HF or CBL-COM-2073-10-HF)
- RS485 to USB converter (ACC-ADT-USB-RS485)
- 24V power source (Robot controller or other)
For the I/O coupling and the Robotiq Screw Feeder
- USB to micro-USB cable

You can find the latest update on our support website (robotiq.com/support). You then Select Your Product > Software > Firmware Update
How to update the firmware?
Once the upgrade process has started, make sure that the unit remains powered on and connected to the software. Not doing so may result in permanent damage and the unit might not be usable again.
- Connect the Robotiq device to the computer and make sure it is powered on:
- For 2F, Hand-E, EPick, AirPick and the Robotiq Screwdriver, use the RS-485 to USB converter.
- For the I/O coupling and the Robotiq Screw Feeder, use the USB cable provided.
- In the case of the Robotiq Screw Feeder, it is recommended to turn the power switch off for it to only be powered by USB.
- Download the Robotiq Universal Upgrader from the Robotiq support website (support.robotiq.com)
- Extract the ZIP file on your computer.
- Launch the Robotiq Universal Upgrader by running the executable file “robotiq_upgrader_X.X.X.X.exe”.
- To start the upgrade sequence, click the Next button in the bottom right corner.
- Select the device to be upgraded.
- Click the Upgrade button on the lower right corner to begin the upgrade process.
- The Robotiq Universal Upgrader will automatically go through the upgrading steps.
- Let the software install the new firmware. When the upgrade is completed, the window shows the new firmware version of the device.
