How to Properly Release a Part with the E-Pick Gripper ?

Tips for ensuring reliable part release without blowoff

In some applications, you may need to release a part quickly or the part being handled by the E-Pick might be particularly light. In these cases, a blowoff might seem like the ideal solution.

However, the E-Pick does not support blowoff functionality.

Why Blowoff Isn’t Available on E-Pick

The E-Pick gripper uses an integrated vacuum generator and does not have the ability to reverse airflow (blowoff). This design prioritizes simplicity and efficiency, but it also means that releasing parts must be managed differently.

Recommended Solution

To ensure smooth release of the part:

  • Slow down the robot’s movement when it is detaching from the part.

  • This gives time for the air pressure to equalize, allowing the vacuum to naturally break and the part to be released.

This technique is especially effective for lightweight or delicate objects.

Conclusion

Although the E-Pick cannot perform blowoff, reliable part release is still achievable by adjusting the robot’s speed during release. Slower motion allows air pressure to normalize and the part to disengage properly.
