Troubleshooting: Hand‑E Regrasp Not Working

How to enable regrasp on Hand‑E, and alternatives if it fails.

The regrasp feature allows a Robotiq gripper to continuously adjust its grip while holding an object. This is especially useful when handling soft or flexible materials such as cables, wires, or fabric.

While the Hand‑E gripper supports this feature, regrasp may not function properly in some scenarios—particularly when gripping horizontally. This article explains how to enable regrasp and what to do if it still doesn’t work.

Required Conditions for Regrasp to Work

To activate the regrasp feature on the Hand‑E, make sure the following conditions are met:

1. Closing Force Must Be at Least 1%

  • If the gripping force is set to 0%, the regrasp function is disabled.

  • Go to the URCap interface and adjust the closing force to at least 1%

     

    2. Try Gripping Vertically

    • If the regrasp doesn’t engage while gripping the object horizontally, try gripping it in a vertical orientation.

    • Vertical gripping typically ensures better alignment and finger tracking, allowing regrasp to function.
