Why only one LED is lighting on the 2F V3?

Why some V3 grippers now only display one LED after repair.

Context

Earlier versions of the Robotiq 2F‑85 gripper (V3) were equipped with two LED lights—one on each side of the device—for visual status feedback. Starting with version V4, the design was intentionally updated to feature only one LED.

This article explains why a repaired V3 gripper might now only illuminate a single LED and why this is not a defect.

Why Only One LED Now?

When Robotiq services or repairs older 2F‑85 V3 grippers, the internal PCB board is replaced with the newer V4 model. This board is designed with only one LED. The position where the second LED used to be now features the engraved serial number instead.

This change means:

  • It is normal for a repaired V3 gripper to only light up one LED.

  • The gripper is fully functional and up to date.

  • There is no error or fault with the unit.

 


 

Conclusion
