How to Fix Continuous Emergency Stop on PAL (Versions 2.2.4 and 2.2.5)

Check the red jumpers on the Robotiq Controller near the Siemens PLC

This article helps resolve a continuous emergency stop issue affecting the PAL when using versions PE 2.2.4 or 2.2.5. The issue is caused by an incorrect jumper configuration on the Robotiq Controller. This guide explains how to identify your PAL version and correct the jumper placement to restore proper operation.

1. Identify Your PAL Version

Before proceeding, confirm that your PAL is running version PE 2.2.4 or 2.2.5.

  • Look for the version plate located on the side of the Robotiq Controller.

  • The version will be labeled as PE 2.2.4 or PE 2.2.5. This procedure only applies to these two specific versions.

2. Inspect and Verify the Red Jumpers

If your version matches, proceed to check the red jumper configuration:

  • Open the Robotiq Controller panel.

  • Locate the X40 port, which is next to the PLC Siemens module.

  • Inspect the set of red jumpers near this connector.

  • Compare their current placement to the correct configuration provided on the image bellow :

  • If the jumpers are incorrectly placed or missing:
    • Power off the system before making any changes.
    • Carefully adjust the jumpers to match the required layout.
    • Ensure they are firmly seated and properly aligned.
    • Power the system back on and verify that the emergency stop issue is resolved.

If you are unsure about the jumper layout, you can contact Robotiq Support with a photo for confirmation before adjusting.

3. Important Notes

  • This issue does not affect other PAL versions.

  • Ensure the system is powered off before inspecting internal components.

Conclusion

If your PAL is running version PE 2.2.4 or 2.2.5 and enters a continuous emergency stop, the issue may be due to misconfigured red jumpers near the X40 port. You are allowed to inspect and adjust the jumpers as long as the system is powered off and proper guidance is followed. When in doubt, don’t hesitate to contact Robotiq Support.
