Benefits of the FT-300 and Copilot on the Screwdriving Workcell
What force sensing adds to screw insertion reliability and cycle time.
As for our Screwdriving Workcell, the force sensing capability (FT-300 for a CB-series) is an intrinsic part of the Workcell.
Screw insertion and screwdriving is especially hard to do for a robot and can lead to many errors and production stops.
To avoid these errors and ensure screwdriving success, the FT-300 contributions are many :
- It can be used to "sense" if the screw touches the side of the hole instead of inserting properly and therefore realign to ensure proper insertion
- It detects when the screw touches the threads and starts the screwdriving motion, therefore ensuring a good control that optimizes cycle time.
- It makes sure the robot follows the screw as it drives down and the force applied is adjustable to accommodate different types of screws. For example, the Phillips will typically require a higher force applied.
- It is also used to program error management sequences, for example is a screw with a default cross-threaded and we need to unscrew and discard it.
Our product sheet sums up the overall benefits of the Screwdriving Workcell.
