Difference Between the FT-300 and FT-300-S Sensors

Key differences between Robotiq’s two Force Torque Sensor models

Context

This article explains the key differences between the Robotiq FT-300 and FT-300-S Force Torque Sensors.

Information

1. Overview of Both Products

  • FT-300
The FT-300 was Robotiq’s original Force Torque Sensor, designed for universal robotic applications requiring force and torque measurement.

  • FT-300-S
The FT-300-S is the upgraded version of the FT-300. It was introduced with improved internal hardware, enhanced signal quality, and better compatibility with current-generation robots and software.

2. Key Differences

  • The main difference between an FT-300 and an FT-300-S is that the FT-300-S is rated IP65.
  • Both FT sensors use the same Copilot software.
  • The shape is slightly different as well. The strucutre of the FT-300-S has been improved for more secure and stable mounting on the robot.

3. Compatibility Notes

  • Universal Robots: Both are fully compatible with all CB-Series Model but are not compatible with E-Series Model. You can use the Copilot Urcap to control it.

  • Other Robots : Both are fully compatible with all robots but we don't have any software. You will need to program it by your own by using registers.

Conclusion

The FT-300-S is the latest Force Torque Sensor. It offers better accuracy, reliability, and integration.
