How to Install a Robotic Gripper in 5 Easy Steps

Robotiq’s 2-Finger Adaptive Robot Grippers are products that offer great value due to their adaptability and their other features such as grip detection, speed and position control. Moreover, they are simple to use, compatible with other industrial robots and their installation can be done in only 5 easy steps. These steps can be applied to the 2-Finger Adaptive Robot Gripper - 85 (for 85mm stroke) and the 2-Finger Adaptive Robot Gripper - 200 (for 200mm stroke).

First of all, here are the principal components you should received with your Adaptive Gripper:

  • Adaptive Gripper

  • Robotiq Device Cable

  • Controller

  • Mechanical Coupling

  • Wrist Adapter Plate (used only for some robot models)

 

Installation steps

Step 1. Installing Adapter Plate and/or Mechanical Coupling

Without Wrist Adapter Plate - Screw the Mechanical Coupling to your robot arm 

With Wrist Adapter Plate - Screw the Wrist Adapter Plate to your robot arm 

Then, screw the Mechanical Coupling to the Wrist Adapter Plate with the supplied screws and pins.

Step 2. Installing the Robot Gripper on the Mechanical Coupling

Attach the Robot Gripper to the Mechanical Coupling with the supplied screws or pins according to Gripper model.

Step 3. Connecting the Controllers Together

According to your communication protocol, use your Communication Cable to connect your communication master device to the controller.

Step 4. Connecting the Robot Gripper

Use the Robotiq Device Cable to connect the Gripper to its controller.

Step 5. Turn On the End Effector!

Turn on your Gripper by connecting the power supply to the controller.
