Automate 2013: Grippers, New Products and Dexterous Manipulation

Written by Samuel Bouchard | Jan 09, 2013 12:54 PM

Automate (formerly the Robot and Vision show) is the largest automation and robotics show in North America. It happens every 2 years at McCormick place in lively Chicago. This year, it will be held from January 21st to the 24th. At a previous edition of Automate, Robotiq introduced the first industrial robotic hand to the market. Robotiq will once again be present at Automate; this time with new products, application engineers on site, demonstrations in partner booths and participation in a full-day workshop on dexterous manipulation.

Robotiq Presence at Automate 2013

We will have working units of the 2-finger and 3-finger Adaptive Grippers. Looking to automate a process that involves various parts? Bring some of your parts over to the booth to discuss your application with one of our engineers.

Two new products will also be unveiled for the first time to the public. The first is a new member in the Adaptive Gripper family. The second one is a whole new robot accessory from Robotiq that aims at making possible the automation of small runs. Visitors will be able to try it live!

Applications in Partner Booths

Various applications leveraging the Adaptive Grippers' flexibility will also be demonstrated in the following partner booths.

NIST Dexterous Manipulation for Manufacturing Applications Workshop

On the 24th, the National Institute of Standards and Technology is hosting a full day workshop on Dexterous Manipulation for Manufacturing Applications. Robot users, robot manufacturers, hands and sensor providers will discuss current applications and future trends.

The goal of the workshop is to address the ability of dexterous robot technologies to meet the needs of small and medium-sized manufacturers, and to promote the greater theme of applying dexterous robotics toward flexible manufacturing.

Robotiq's president and co-founder Samuel Bouchard will be presenting at the workshop, sharing his knowledge of applying dexterous grippers in the industry.

See you in Chicago!

If you were already planning to come, make sure to stop by the Robotiq booth! If you did not confirm your presence, register now for free. This year's Automate will be the most exciting ever, with plenty of innovations to solve the ever increasing challenges of manufacturing in North America.
