WHY EXHIBIT AT FABTECH 2012

The need for flexible industrial robotic processes has become evident for more and more people in many manufacturing industries within the past months/years. It passed from a "nice thing to have in your business" to a "MUST thing to have on your plant floor". At the core of this mindset switch: competitivity, labor shortages, quality consistency. Here are some examples of companies and clients that I have met in the past few months that clearly illustrate these factors.

Marwood Metal Fabrication

Marwood is an OEM metal stamping company in Ontario. To stay competitive and become more efficient, the people from Marwood decided to automate a resistance nut welding robotic cell. They had to automate a process which includes over 30 different parts. Having to design several custom robot grippers was a big concern for them. Why invest so much money to see custom tools sleeping on a rack most of the time? With all the costs related to tool changing and changeovers... this is what we call wasteful.

So when they found out about our 2-Finger Adaptive Robot Gripper they were pretty enthousiastic about the flexibility that it provides. So now Marwood Metal Fabrication has a flexible and effective robotic cell with one off-the-shelf Robot Gripper to handle all their parts.

Laforo

Laforo is a foundry in Quebec. To stay competitive in a tough industry and to fight against today's challenging labor shortage in its manufacturing industry, this foundry decided to move forward with the automation of its inspection cell. Their problem was a bit the same as with the people from Marwood. They had to automate a cell where a lot of different part shapes (circular and irregular) had to be handled in different ways. The idea of efficiency gains through a flexible process quickly became apparent to them.

Once again, having a single Gripper that can handle a wide variety of parts in different ways was the piece of the puzzle that they were looking for.
