Everyone that visits the Robotiq office likes the atmosphere. It is open, bright, filled with a young, highly-skilled team working on serious problems, but without people taking themselves too seriously. It is to highlight our work culture that we did this 1 minute video.
Company's mantra
This video was also an occasion to express the values we stand for, as well as the company's mantra: "Tools for Agile Automation". Here are some explanations about the concept included within this mantra.
Tools
We make flexible robot grippers that fall in the category of end-effectors or simply tooling.
We prefer the word tool as it implies usefulness. It also positions us in the value chain. We are not robot manufacturers, machine builders or system integrators. We provide tools that can expand robot arm and machine capabilities.
Agile
We target manufacturers that need to be agile in their processes, needing to quickly adapt to their environment. Agile also refers to manual agility, positioning ourselves with the type of application we get into: manipulation.
As a manufacturer, we use agile methodology to create and manufacture our products.
It is also a "clin d'oeil" or glimpse to where the company originally spun-off from: the Laval University Robotics Lab, whose first and famous mechanism was called, the Agile Eye.
Automation
In the end, we want to enable automation of processes that are not yet automated, often because they require a high degree of flexibility. And why not tools for agile robotics? Because our products can also be used on manipulation devices that are not necessarily robots.
Our corporate values
And as you see in the video, we have white letters floating around the office to keep our focus on our core values. ;) Seriously, here is how those values are expressed in our day-to-day work.
Teamwork
Automation is simply too complex to be the work of a single person. The problems that we want to tackle need to be addressed by a team. And that includes people who work in the company, as well as our partners and clients without whom complete solutions would never exist.
Innovation
Innovation not only means something that has never been done before. For us it also has to mean something that is useful, that can solve important problems. We make innovative products and are not shy about being innovative in other aspects of growing our business, whether it is marketing or the processes that we put in place.
Quality
Quality is the foundation for everything. Without quality, none of the great innovation coming from our team would find a use. Our products enable new ways of automating. For the forward thinking customers using them, we commit to quality.
So this is what we mean when we say: "We are Robotiq. We make tools for agile automation."
