Automate, the biennial automation show is back for 2015. Held in Chicago, IL, from March 23rd to the 26th , we are pleased to announce that Robotiq will be part of the show. With innovations and new release announcements, the show will be really interesting for the robotic industry. This year, we will be housed in different booths, here is a short list of what is going on for Robotiq at Automate 2015.
We have recently launched an updated version of the 2-Finger 85 Adaptive Gripper and we are really excited to show it off to the robotic industrial community. The Gripper is basically an enhanced version of our past model. It is two times stronger and 50% faster.
Compatible with all major industrial robots having a payload of between 5 to 10 kg and specifically with Universal Robots, the 2-Finger 85 Adaptive Gripper provides greater flexibility to robots by handling a wide variety of part shapes with its different gripping modes. With control over finger force, the user has the freedom to pick up fragile or brittle items, as well as tough parts.

With this new product and its featured bundle for Universal Robots, we want to make robotics accessible to everyone by being more intuitive and user-friendly”, says Samuel Bouchard, President of Robotiq.
From cabling, to the mechanical coupling and software drivers, Robotiq provides everything you need for a quick installation. On the software side, Robotiq drivers for Universal Robots have been developed to install automatically, simply by plugging our USB drive into the Universal Robots' teach pendant. On the hardware side, the 2-Finger 85 connects directly to the USB port of the robot controller. An external controller is no longer required. The Canadian brand Matrox will be using our Gripper to demonstrate a pick and place application. The demonstration will be using a Robotiq 2-Finger 85 Adaptive Gripper, a DENSO robot (VP-6242GM) plus a Matrox Iris GT camera paired with the Matrox Design Assistant software. This presentation will demonstrate the pick and place ability of the robot to pick parts that are randomly placed. After the vision system locates the parts, the robot grabs them and carries them to their final location. Matrox is specialized in vision systems and is also Canadian, like us, eh! So, we are also really pleased to be visible on the Canadian side of the show too. Go visit them at booth 939.
A few aisles away from the Robotiq booth is the Yaskawa booth. In their booth you will have the chance to try Robotiq Kinetiq Teaching. This teach by demonstration device has been designed to show the robot how to weld by hand-guiding them trhough the path they have to weld. Go visit them at booth 559.
