UPDATE: 24-Hour Workshop Challenge

Written by Emmet Cole | Sep 12, 2017 8:00 PM

Eight teams. 40 cobots. One challenge.
The latest from the 24-Hour Workshop Challenge!

What have we picked up since the 24-Hour Workshop Challenge kicked off at 9:00 A.M.?

Well, initial feedback from the floor is that the challenge is tough.

5 cobots seems like a lot to handle within 24 hours.

We're hearing that the toughest part is not the technical challenge, but the teamwork element.

People who don't know each other, suddenly working together in teams, with 24 hours to produce as much product as possible, face some early challenges as roles and positions are adopted.

Most of the teams have been neck and neck throughout the morning and early afternoon, completing the opening Design phase by around 11:30 and moving quickly on to the Integrate phase.

The Design phase is all about setting up lean, safe automated cells with the minimum of fuss.

Then the Integration phase begins.

Just as we were about to publish this post, Team #4 (includes representatives from VicosystemsAlumotionRobotplusi3 MexicoHTL Electronics SA de CV & others.) and Team #8 (includes representatives from Nihon Binary,  SiS CorporationHartfiel Automation others)are pushing into an early lead, with rumours swirling the room that they are about to produce their first pump already!

Stay tuned. We'll have more in our Day Two Roundup, later tonight!
