Apparently robotic companies are pretty stoked about the Christmas season and are creating a lot of videos to show their enjoyment. Here is a short compilation of videos from our partners (and one from us) with a Christmas theme. Enjoy!
We are starting with our own video featuring a 2-Finger 85 Gripper and a Universal Robot UR5. The robot is decorating the tree with fragile balls. And no Christmas balls were broken in the making of this video, which is fairly surprising considering how fragile they are. Will robots be able to decorate Christmas trees in the future and make them look as nice as you can? I’m not sure if I want to ask, but did you break any ornaments this year decorating your tree?
Roboticists have a weird attraction to Christmas and Legos, it must be because we are all young at heart! Here is a nice blend of these 2 things. A Universal Robots UR5 paired with a force-torque sensor and a Robotiq 2-Finger Adaptive Gripper are building a Lego Christmas tree using force feedback and adaptive technology. In fact, whatever the part, our Gripper can grasp it correctly and the force feedback or sensitivity allows the robot to insert parts together nice and gently. So if you want to step up your gift game, you may want to add a UR robot to the list to build your children’s new Legos.

This cool robotic choreography has been programmed directly by Universal Robots in their Danish offices. The video is showing all three models of Universal Robots (Papa UR10, Mamma UR5, and Baby UR3). The video also features our 2-Finger Adaptive Gripper on the Papa robot arm! The video is amusing and symbolic at the same time, especially as their new UR3 model was ‘born’ not to long ago.
