How to Load a Program from a USB Key on Your Robot and change default starting program

Replace the default program with an updated version from a USB drive properly, and change the default starting program.

Sometimes you may receive a new program from Robotiq or a partner to update your robot. This article explains how to load that program from a USB key and set it as the default startup program.

Information

Before You Start

  1. Copy the new program files onto a USB key.

  2. Insert the USB key into the robot.

  3. Note: The robot automatically loads a default startup program (e.g., Program_V1-yyyy-mm-dd).

General Procedure

  1. Open a default program (e.g., PutIntoBox) from the robot.

  2. Copy the new program from the USB key onto the robot.

  3. Move the old program into a backup/archive folder.

  4. Set the new program as the default startup program.

  5. Restart the robot to confirm the new program loads correctly.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. From the Program Selection menu, open the default installation program (usually PutIntoBox).

  2. Return to Program Selection.

  3. Navigate to your USB key (e.g., usbdisk_0).

    • You can confirm by removing/reinserting the USB if unsure.

  4. Select the new program (e.g., Program_V2-yyyy-mm-dd) and Copy it.

  5. Return to Home and Paste the new program.

  6. Select the old program (Program_V1-yyyy-mm-dd), Cut it, and move it to a backup folder.

  7. Return to Home and cancel back to PutIntoBox.

  8. Go to Installation → General → Startup.

     
  9. Enable Load default program at startup (if not already selected).

  10. Choose the new program (e.g., Program_V2-yyyy-mm-dd) as the startup program.

  11. Save all changes.

  • Restart the robot.

  • Verify that the new program (Program_V2-yyyy-mm-dd) loads automatically at startup with the correct installation.
