What Is the Cycle Count for Robotiq Grippers?
Understand how your gripper tracks and records cycles
Context
Robotiq grippers automatically track their usage by counting the number of cycles performed. This helps monitor wear and schedule maintenance. A cycle is registered depending on the type of motion and whether an object is grasped.
Information
How the Cycle Count Works
-
Grasping an object during the closing motion → Counted as one cycle
-
Closing motion with no object (hands fully closed, no gap) → Counted as one cycle
-
Closing motion with no object (hands stop with a gap remaining) → Not counted
-
Opening motion without an object → Not counted
Conclusion
The cycle counter increases only when the gripper completes a closing motion with or without an object (but fully closed). Opening motions and partial-gap closings without contact are not counted. This ensures the cycle count accurately reflects gripper usage for maintenance and performance monitoring.
