How to install 4 grippers on UR Robot ?

On some applications, you will need to control 4 grippers on UR Robot. 

Knowledge

It is possible to do so,  our URCap can handle up to four grippers at the same time.

The robot does not have enough juice to power all of them through the wrist connector, so you will need to connect the power cables on a 24V on the robot’s controller.

Our URCap requires that all grippers be on the same port. So you’ll have to use 3 x M12 splitters to connect all grippers on the same port on the controller. Here is a picture of the connection :


The cable shown (with M12 connector) in this picture to clear the green splitter is not provided by Robotiq. They will need it to clear the green splitter. Otherwise, the 3rd splitter won't fit.

 

So you will need to order :

  • 4 x Hand-E or 2F85 or 2F140 Basic Gripper Unit: HND-GRP or AGC-GRP-2F85 or AGC-GRP-2F140
  • 1 x 10 m Robotiq device cable CBL-COM-2065-10-HF
  • 1 x USB to RS485 adapter ACC-ADT-USB-RS485
  • 3 x M12 Splitter male to 2 female ACC-SPLIT-M12-2/1
