Collaborative robots are being scrutinize to determine their compatibility with many different standards. The ISO/TS 15066 is only one of several regulations that may apply to ensure worker safety when using collaborative robots. Previously ISO 10218 was the primary standard that was used in guiding collaborative robot safety. However, ISO 10218 was not particularly well matched to the power and force limited cobots that are popular today. In 2011 when the standard was adopted there were very few collaborative robots or applications actually in place. Therefore it is welcoming news that some precision and guidelines are now available for manufacturers and integrators of collaborative robots.
