Voodoo is an up and coming startup specialized in 3D printing high volume production. Since 3D printers are normally used for prototyping, Voodoo's co-founder completely changed their main purpose. They've built a digital factory that is so efficient they can produce more than 50 different products at the same time, in thousands of units for each.

All of this was made possible by using the latest automation technologies. On this 3-minute feature story from MSNBC, you'll see how the Robotiq 2-Finger Gripper is used in what the reporter calls "the factory of the future".

This story also addresses the jobs retention topic, explaining that if we are to rethink manufacturing, some jobs need to be created while many tasks need to be redefined. This productivity gain results into more demand, and new jobs being created.

Enjoy!

Axis New Jersey worked on the collaborative robot integration for Voodoo Manufacturing's Project Skywalker. “VooDoo set aggressive time deadlines for implementing the Universal Robot to tend their 3D printing cells, explains territory manager Cynthia Kradjel. Although their in-house team was more than capable of programming any Gripper to work with the Universal Robot, they chose the Robotiq 2-Finger Gripper because its built-in programming routines and ease of interface with the Universal Robot would save time and allow them to direct their resources to other aspects of the project. The result was that the system was up and running before their deadline.”
