Collaborative Robot eBook - Updated Version

For a couple of years now we have been keeping track of the different releases for collaborative robots in the industrial robot market. Once or twice a year we update our eBook on collaborative robots. With the recent releases of various new collaborative robots, we thought it was time to bring out a new version of our eBook on collaborative robots.

This document regroups all the different collaborative robots on the market and describes their main applications and the purpose for certain designs. We also provide a Comparative Chart to help you better visualize and choose the best robot for your applications. A couple of critical specification are listed to help make your choice clearer.

First of all we have added the new collaborative robots that have come out recently in 2015. They include:

Universal Robots - UR3

It was just logical that Universal Robots release a smaller version of their already popular UR5 and UR10. The new kid on the block, the UR3 is designed for smaller applications such as soldering and electronic assembly.

Rethink Robotics - Sawyer

The company has taken advantage of what was working well on Baxter and integrated these features into a totally new platform: Sawyer. The new robot has a single arm, a more compact design and stiffer behavior due to its redesign.

Precise Automation - PP100

The first cartesian collaborative robot. Precise Automation claims that the PP100 is safer than other more classic collaborative robots on the market. With a simple design, embedded controller and power source; the robot is easy to move and to install at a new station.

So basically, we have updated the relevant information for each of the collaborative robots that were already a part of this eBook and some of these robots have new specifications or new versions have just come out.

If you have already read a the past version of this document I highly recommend that it is worth a re-read, since some of the information has changed and of course, new information has been added. Hopefully this updated eBook will help you; if you have to choose your next robot co-worker or just keep you informed with what is available in the collaborative robot market today.
