Industrial Robotics: Yes we Can Automate High-Mix, Low-Volume

Why can't we automate high-mix, low volume production with robots in 2011? My answer is that in fact, it is possible. But not with the tools that we are used to in low-mix, high volume settings!

That is what I explain in the slidecast below, which is a presentation that I've done at Fabtech 2011. Make sure to have your sound on and to click on the links to the videos during the presentation.

What do you think? What are the other limitations of current industrial robotics approaches that prevent us from using it for high-mix, low volume production?
